Analox Instruments Ltd is a privately owned independent company established in the United Kingdom in 1973 specializing in the development, manufacture and supply of analytical equipment for the medical and scientific laboratory markets. Using a novel enzymatic technique, the first semi-automatic instrument for glucose analysis has evolved into 20 model options for a variety of analytes in biological fluids, including plasma, serum and whole blood. The electrochemical technology employed is exceptionally fast with results becoming available less than 20 seconds after sample injection, and is remarkably free from the interference problems associated with traditional optical techniques. The company also manufactures all associated biochemical reagents and consumable systems. Its products are used in over 65 countries world-wide including all major markets - North America, all EC and Scandinavian countries, Japan, Malaysia, Australasia and most east European countries. Two thirds of the Company's output is exported, mostly through exclusive distributors. In January 1997 Analox Instruments USA Inc became operational in Massachusetts to improve sales and service to US customers.  In autumn 1999 Analox Instruments Ltd achieved ISO 9000 Accreditation for its manufacture, sales and distribution activities.

Analyzer specifications conform to several national electrical safety standards including IEC1010. All Analox instruments carry the CE mark for compliance as appropriate. For the US market the company obtained its FDA 510k approval in 1984. The Company ensures the continuing performance integrity of the full range of analytical reagents by the generation in-house of much comparative performance data. In addition Analox Instruments participates in several nationally run quality control schemes for clinical chemistry and the data generated is available on request.

Major areas of application include hospital Clinical Biochemistry departments, Intensive Care Units, Special Care Baby Units, Medical Schools, Universities and other research institutes. The company is very prominent in Sports Medicine for lactate monitoring in relation to exercise intensity in training. This approach is used by a number of National Sports Training Institutes and University Departments as well as individual elite athletes. In recent years the company has diversified into various industrial markets, particularly food and beverage, for milk and alcohol analysis and for pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and process applications.
