GM10

The Analox GM10 Glucose Analyzer provides extremely fast analyses for ß-D-glucose (Dextrose) in many industrial applications including food & beverage, biopharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Results are obtained within 20 seconds of sample injection. Samples can be any suitable homogeneous fluid or extract - turbidity or opacity does not cause interference. Specimens with suspended solids are simply allowed to sediment or are centrifuged for a few seconds and the supernatant sampled.

Dextrose is measured directly on the analyzer in the range 0-40%W/V. Concentrations above 4%W/V require a brief aqueous pre-dilution step. Sample-to-sample time is approx. 60 seconds. Sample sizes are typically 2.5-10µl (using an adjustable positive displacement pipette).

Sucrose and lactose can also be determined on the GM10 via simple pre-reaction by enzymatic conversion to ß-D-glucose.

Analytical Principle:

    Dextrose (D-Glucose) Analysis:
The analyzer measures the rate of oxygen uptake in the enzymatic reaction with glucose oxidase and under the controlled conditions of the assay, this is directly proportional to the concentration of ß-D-glucose (Dextrose).

    Sucrose Analysis:
Sucrose, a disaccharide, is stoichiometrically hydrolyzed by invertase (ß-fructosidase) to
a-D-glucose and fructose in a simple pre-reaction. Under the special buffer conditions used, mutarotation to ß-D-glucose rapidly occurs.

The ß-D-Glucose is then analysed as above, and the original sucrose concentration obtained by calculation. The procedure can also take account of any endogenous ß-D-glucose.

    Lactose Analysis:
Lactose (milk sugar), a disaccharide, is stoichiometrically hydrolyzed by galactosidase to ß-D-glucose and galactose in a simple pre-reaction. Under the special buffer conditions used, mutarotation to ß-D-glucose rapidly occurs.

The ß-D-Glucose is then analysed as above, and the original lactose concentration obtained by calculation. The procedure can also take account of any endogenous ß-D-glucose.

Operation:

The single action of injecting a sample is all you need to obtain a result and prepare the analyzer for the next analysis. Sample injection via a very accurate positive displacement pipette triggers the complete analytical cycle. A hard-copy result is obtained on the integral printer within 20 seconds of sample introduction. Analyses are menu-driven via the 32-character display which guides the operator through the complete procedure. Subsidiary menus are reached via the YES and NO buttons which enable the user to change calibration values, optimize operational modes, utilize special functions and perform statistical data analysis. The display also provides self-test diagnostics in relation to sensor electrode status and fluid movements.
